METHODIST WOMEN

Ebenezer U.M.W. The Ebenezer unit of the United Methodist Women has about 85 members in 4 regular circles and a small cyber circle. The regular groups meet monthly throughout the school year and have various charities and projects that they support. They typically have a devotional lesson at their circle meetings also. The small cyber circle shares information and inspirational items via e-mail at ebenezermoms@eGroups.com. They get together as needed to work on worthy projects. As a unit, we socialize, study, worship, share, and do mission projects. We feel we are a vital part in the life of our church and cherish our Christian fellowship with our sisters in Christ.

The whole unit comes together several times a year for a spring luncheon, Christmas dinner, Mother/Daughter Banquet, and two Thriftsales which are our main source of raising funds to support the many charities in our budget. We support our church and it's groups and activities as needed, as well as support local and international organizations in a variety of ways. We also sponsor an annual Women's Retreat, usually held at Drayton Manor, a lovely facility in Worton, Maryland.

All women are invited to attend any circle meetings and share our fellowship.

STEPHEN MINISTRY

Stephen Ministry is a ministry grounded in Jesus' command to love one another. Through one-on-one caring relationships we minister to those who are hurting and provide Christian love and care to support them during these difficult periods in their lives. Stephen Ministers are trained to listen, share and provide God's love. Persons going though a crisis in their lives are encouraged to contact one of the Pastors or one of the Stephen Leaders (Phil Gardner, Don Romano and Verena Sharkey).

MISSIONS COALITION

Our Vision: “Every Member in Mission"

Our Mission: Witnessing to God’s transforming love and saving grace through obedient service in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Ebenezer’s Mission Coalition believes that God calls Christians to come to the aid of their less fortunate brothers and sisters in their own community and throughout the world. Whether it be visiting inmates in prison, serving meals at a homeless shelter, or helping lead Sunday worship in a nursing home, all of our members and friends are encouraged to be active participants in God’s plan of salvation and redemption for His children.

“…for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.”
- Matthew 25 : 35 – 36

We welcome you to join us in our work for the Lord in whatever way you are able and to whatever level of commitment you can make. Besides supporting missionaries around the globe Ebenezer offers many hands-on opportunities for active participation in our own community. Included in our ministries are Friendship House, Meals on Wheels, Hope Dining Room, Sojourner's Place, Young Life, Campus Crusade for Christ, Prison Ministry, Angel Tree, Emmaus House, Bethany Christian Services, and Habitat for Humanity, to name only a few.

Our Hope: It is the prayer of the Ebenezer Missions Coalition that all of our congregation and friends will experience the joy and spiritual rewards of serving Christ and his Kingdom. In addition to ongoing ministries there are also one-time events where your help would be greatly appreciated. To find out more about these opportunities please contact our pastor, church office, or one of our team members.

WORSHIP COMMITTEE

Committee Scope:
The responsibility of the Worship Committe is to work with the pastor and music leaders to ensure that our congregation provides opportunities for worship that will help the congregation experience its relationship with God and will help it live more faithfully as a Christian Community. We work closely with the church council to offer settings for vital worship. We help with facilities and people coordination where is enhances our worship experience.

Opportunities for Service:
The worship committe is always looking to members of the church family who would like to participate in any of the following ways: Chair Staff Rep Acolyte Corrdinator Acolyte Training Communion Stewards Coordinator Memorial Flowers Flower Delivery Coordinator Greeter Coordinator Tape Ministry Prayer Chain Coordinator Prayer Chain Members Visual Arts

YOUTH MINISTRY

PRE-SCHOOL BOARD

Committee Scope: The Preschool Board oversees the operation of Ebenezer Preschool. This includes the day-to-day operation of the preschool and ensuring that the Preschool program is fully in step with the church programs.

Opportunities for service: We have several members-at-large that serve on the board. Board member responsibilities include helping to make decisions concerning curriculum, staff, and new programs. Without serving on the board, the biggest opportunity for service is to support the Preschool through prayers and "word of mouth" adverstising. Stop by the Preschool rooms when you are at the church to see what they are doing. Tell your friends and family.

Preschool Mission Statement: The church, as an institution of the Christian religion, is concerned about the well being of each individual and society as a whole. The church recognizes that education is important for the development of each individual, therefore, the church operates a preschool as a ministry to children and their families. At the preschool level, the child has experience with family and with those outside the home. Our purpose is to provide the preschool child with a loving environment that guides his/her physical, mental, emotional, and social growth. It is our intent that our preschool education will help children become comfortable with and aware of themselves and others; and will learn skills, ideas and beliefs that will promote personal development and a sense of useful interaction with others. We prepare the child for further learning experiences and for entrance into kindergarten. We welcome children of all faiths while teaching Christian ideals in a positive attitude towards others. The child will grow in the awareness of GOD and the LOVE of JESUS through stories, songs, little prayers, and holidays. The teachers' CHRISTIAN ATTITUDES help the child learn to LOVE and help him/her feel that he/she is loved. This will help the child to grow spiritually.
