Remember
Helping Build Ebenezer

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.  Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval.  By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible."  Hebrews 11:1-3.

The following are memories from some of our 50-year members.

Alexander Guthrie, founder of Ebenezer, must have had a lot of faith ---- assurance of great things he hoped would come of Ebenezer and the conviction of things not seen, not knowing what the future held for his tiny church in 1824.  Alexander was a lay speaker and entertained the circuit riders in his home as overnight guests.  On his deathbed, he asked his son Joseph to carry on his work at Ebenezer.  Alexander Guthrie would be proud of Ebenezer, were he alive today.  He would be proud that we have grown to nearly 650 members, proud of the community service we provide, and especially proud that he has direct descendants still attending Ebenezer
