The Rev. Ray F. Graham
Ebenezer United Methodist Church
525 Polly Drummond Hill Road
Newark, DE 19711

Dear Ray,

It is with great excitement and joy that I respond to your kind invitation to join in the 175th Anniversary of Ebenezer.  J.B., Ida Marie, and I will be joining you all for the evening festivities.  I regret we are unable to attend services with the Rev. Willard Robinson as I have served with him several times before in similar situations.  Please extend my deepest affections to he and Eleanor as they bring the message of God's Good News.

Our time at Ebenezer, though brief, has been our most memorable of all thus far.  Christmas Eve services were some of the most delightful I've had the privilege of participating in. The music program headed by Kerry and all the beautiful people in the choir have truly been missed since our re-appointments.

The spirit that abounds during the wonderful season of Advent will forever be immortalized in the loving and dedicated Bud Gravatt.  I will never forget his determination of getting the biggest, prettiest Christmas tree despite running an extremely high fever and being gravely ill with prostate cancer.  May that spirit and tradition live on in next generations.

Our hilarious times with Rick Graper, Kristin Williams, Matt Hershey, Margie Vines, Paul Niskanen, and John Miller serving the

youth along with Nate Miller will never be forgotten.  We especially enjoyed those wonderfully wacky Junior Highers, who are all now close to graduation from High School! Of the many events done with the youth, the Live Nativity was one of the most meaningful for both of us.

I would be remiss if I didn't men-
tion the great opportunity we had to do something we love so much, singing and preaching, with the VIP service.  What a blessing those times were for us and how we pray the goal and mission of this service is far reaching.  Another, even more profound, spiritual experience for us was when we took our Walk to Emmaus.  Phil Gardner and Stephanie Simmons were instrumental in making this happen and many pilgrims showed their support during our journeys.

After serving Ebenezer as associate pastor for two years, I was re-appointed to Hockessin for two years as their associate.  I am currently serving a two-point charge in Cecil County, Maryland, Perryville-Principio Parish.  During my second year at Hockessin the Lord saw fit to bless us with a beautiful daughter, Ida Marie Loving-Moore.

I feel as though Ida is just as much Ebenezer's daughter as she is Hockessin's and ours.  I was blessed to be a part of the women's retreat, "God's Little Dreamer" shortly after my transfer and was surprised with a baby shower by these beautiful women!  They were the first to do so, even ahead of my own family.

Then, after she was born, I became gravely ill.  Just prior to this I had been placed on bed rest and several women brought dinners out to us, stayed with J.B. and Ida, and Connie and Jack Tarburton looked after us quite diligently.  I will forever be grateful for the love and support this congregation showed
